Welcome! To the Design an Inclusive Spaceship Collaborative Operation (DISCO)!

We are a collaborative design sprint event combining accessibility and speculative design to imagine inclusive futures!

If you are at a DISCO and looking for information about crew or ship components please go to our workshop section. Otherwise feel free to look through our website to learn more about the project!

Mission Statement

The goal of the DISCO is to introduce our participants to topics of accessibility and universal design in a way that is fun and playful. We want to challenge the idea that accessible design is “boring” or a daunting topic to learn. We use speculative design and science fiction to replace “it always has been” with “what if?”

If you wish to know more about the project please go to our Mission section.

Three people collaborate at a table in a brightly lit, creative workspace. One person is bent over writing on a large sheet of paper, while two others stand nearby discussing and reviewing materials. The room features colorful chairs, bean bags, and murals on the walls, with a whiteboard and various supplies visible in the background.

Run Your Own - Workshop

The practice of access and inclusion is iterative, imperfect, and never truly done. Therefore, this project is ongoing.

This first toolkit version is a “high fidelity prototype,” to get at the feel of a DISCO kit. If you are still interested in running a DISCO go to our Workshop section if you are interested in running your own DISCO! And please fill our our feedback form and let us know how it went and what can be improved upon.

Meet The Team

A project as large and special as DISCO could not be realized without the assistance of our dedicated team and wonderful co-designers. If you would like to get in touch with the DISCO or learn more about our team, supporters or co-designers, please go to our Credits section. We are truly grateful for every person that is currently or has been involved in the DISCO, and are proud to highlight their accomplishments.
